The most difficult thing I experienced was…. Not being able to comfort all the crying children – some of them just wouldn’t be comforted.

My best received lesson… Is that you can’t always be sweet and kind with children, some of them have to be told off in order to understand. read more

I enjoyed sitting around the kitchen table conversing with the lady of the house over a cup of tea as we discussed Chilean idioms and ?slang?.

I was surprised that?.

Lone, the ABV Project Director paid attention to every detail from the beginning to the end. Her professionalism and commitment was contagious. I am considering another assignment in the near future.

The most difficult thing I experienced was?.trying to get my students to focus on the English Lessons. They were more interested in the colorful hand outs and projects I gave them. Eventually I understood that the setting and circumstances warranted a different type of program.

The best thing of my program was arriving at the day care center in the morning and having the children run up to you to give you a hug.

I was surprise how different American and Chilean life are. It was almost overwhelming for such a drastic lifestyle change. Adjusting to complete culture shock. It was hard leaving the things that made me comfortable. I missed American food and my daily routine.

Many people live without the things we take for granted (hot water and transportation) it also very hard to increase one´s quality of life when salaries are so low. All money is used for survival of the family. This experience caused me to grow a tremendous amount of personality.
